I hope I wasn’t gone too long! I needed to care for my newly planted tree and I just know he is going to be sooo beautiful one day!
So, let’s see where we left off!
Trees are ever so silent, live very, very long lives and provide our Earth with the best air, the best oxygen, the best shade and the most beautiful views ever!
Another wonderful thing about a tree – in one year your average tree will remove over one ton of carbon dioxide from the air!! Trees truly are our friends – yipppppeeeee!
Will your tree bear fruit or flowers? If so, you will have to learn how much water your new tree will need on a daily and weekly basis along with special care that might be needed in order to help their fruits or flowers grow.
Now speaking of clean air, do you know you and your family could have the very best air in the world over the course of one year? Your tree will provide you with all the oxygen you could possibly want over the entire year!
Trees help keep our earth cooler, provides all living things with the very best clean air. Trees are our special, silent guardians – take care of them and they will care for you forever!
You have learned so many great ways to help protect our planet, protect our animals and our wonderful plants! Share your new found knowledge with your classmates, your teachers and others. You will show them they too can make a big difference and feel really good about themselves!
Zeppiiiii is already very, very proud of you! See You Soon!
Hey Kids! We planted our very first tree and it was soooo exciting and I can’t wait to see it grow! I want to give you some ideas so you and your friends can also grow a tree!
Get with your friends and plant a tree. Have your parents bring you to the local nursery and pick out a tree that will do really well by your house. Trees have been planted for many reasons from celebrating a birthday to remembering something really special. Trees grow quickly and before you know it, they are really big! Think of it, plant a young sapling and one day when you are an adult – come back and see a wonderful, full grown tree where once was a small sapling!
When you go to the local nursery, let the specialists guide you to the right tree for your ground conditions, your available space and the proper sunlight. You don’t want to plant a tree that will block the sun from your Mom’s flower garden! Trees grow very quickly and their roots will spread out to meet the size of the tree. You do not want a tree whose roots will end up growing under the foundation of your house – Yikes!! So listen to those who know!
Trees are so wonderful, most people do not understand how very valuable they are for keeping us all safe and healthy! I have to run for right now, but when I come back – I’m gonna tell you even more about trees!
Hugs From Your Friend Zeppiiii
It’s so good to see you again! Today, we are going to look at things that no one ever thinks about, but could be causing bad health for our environment, our animal friends and plants.
I bet there have been times, you are trying to sleep but guess what! A faucet in the kitchen or in the bathroom is just dripping, dripping and dripping! Teeeheeeee! You try turning it off but nope!
If a faucet in your home is dripping, ask your parents to replace the washer. For each drop that falls every second, it’s causing over 2,700 gallons of wasted water! Yikes! That’s 10,220 liters that can be saved with a new washer!
Ever bitten off more than you can chew? I know I have….
Even though you are hungry, do not take more food on your plate than you really can eat. Whether it’s in your school lunch room or once you get home, it’s a waste of food. There really are people in this world that do not have enough food to eat. Wasted food that ends up in landfills could feed over 49 million hungry people each year in the United States alone.
Alesdor, Lilit and I are going to go to our local nursery and plant a tree! I am sooo excited! When I come back, I’m going to give you some great ideas if you want to plant a tree too!
See You Soon – Zeppiiiiii
Oh I am sooo excited that you have come back! Do you know there are soooo many little critters living with us, on this Earth, that are very, very helpful in keeping everything safe? Unfortunately, some kids find my little friends scary! That’s because they kind’a look different! My little spider friends are wonderful helpers, so don’t kill them!
Did you know that spiders eat pesky insects and control pests that will kill plants and your Mom’s favorite flowers? There are so many wonderful spiders all over the world that play a very important part of keeping our Earth safe and healthy. The next time you think you are afraid of a spider, think about what he is providing this planet – you might learn not to be so afraid of him!
I know many nice spiders and they are here to help us all out in making sure our plants have a really great place to live and are being protected!
When we get together next time, let’s look at some things inside your home that could run better, keeping our Earth safe and our bad eating habits and what that means!
See You Soon – Hugs From Zeppiiiiii
Boy! I have been so busy, busy gathering up great ideas for you and your friends to help make this Earth a better place for everyone!
How about you and your friends getting together and volunteering to help clean up your local park! Get with your teachers to see if public places could use your help, plan a field trip to go and help pickup and dispose trash. It will be a lot of fun and teach you why littering is not a good thing to do!
Do your part by never, ever throwing trash on the ground, it’s so bad for the planet! If you see a friend throw a wrapper on the ground, bring it to their attention and let them know the nearby trash can is where that should go.
When you or your friends throw stuff on the ground, they may land in a storm drain! Storm drains take water to the nearest river or stream that eventually flows into the ocean. If you are tossing items onto the ground, these items are littering the rivers, streams and even the ocean. Our friends who live in the rivers or in the ocean are being harmed! It’s bad for the environment, fish become sick because of these things polluting the water and then our bird friends become sick because they ate a sick fish! How Sad Is That? Protect our oceans and our wildlife – they need you!
Come Back Soon For More Great Stuff! Your Friend Zeppiiiii
Hello Again My Friends!
Lilit & I were reminded of something that sooo many of us take for granted & never think about, but boy we should! I am talking about our friends the trees! Yep! Trees Are Our Giant Friends! They are always watching out for us! So what can we do to watch out for them?
Boy, I just love trees and I bet You Do Too! These silent giants give us fresh oxygen and air to breathe. They give us shade in the heat of summer and allows the sun to warm our homes in the winter months. When trees drop their leaves, it’s always just before the coldest months of the year and your home feels so much warmer from the wonderful fall sun! Leaves can be a lot of fun to build a mound for you and your friends to jump into! Get with your parents first, because at some point your Dad is going to have to bag them up to be sent off for recycling. People are no longer allowed to burn leaves because the burning leaves send pollution into the air, so ask first. I’m sure your Dad will work something out for you and your friends to have some fun and still have time to bag them up when it’s time!
I have to go and think up so more terrific things you and I can do to help our planet, our animal friends and our wonderful, beautiful trees!
See You Soon Your Friend Zeppiiiii
Ooooh! It Is Soooo Good To See All You Kids Again!
I have been learning soooo many wonderful ways to help our planet become healthier and a better place for beautiful plants and wonderful animals to share along with you. Here are more wonderful ways to recycle and keep bad stuff out of landfills and poisoning the land.
So, let’s get started – This is going to be sooo aw-sum!
Batteries are used in so many of our devices from computers to cars to cell phones! They must all be disposed of at some time unless you use rechargeable batteries. Did you know you would have to use literally hundreds of one-use batteries to equal the energy from a rechargeable battery? Yepper! If you or your parents have batteries that can only be used once, learn how to properly dispose of these items. These batteries ending up in landfills can be very harmful to the planet. That is why there are state rules and regulations for depositing these kind of items. Ask your parents to teach you how these batteries are given to certain drop off stations for proper disposal.
Books are wonderful and we all want to read great stories that everyone else is enjoying. Instead of running out and buying a new book, why not borrow the book from a friend and do the same back. Let your friends read the book you so enjoyed! I’m sure they will appreciate it and so will our Earth!
Gotta Run! But come back real soon, cause I’ve got a great new idea you are just going to love – Yep!
Your Best Buddy Zeppiiiiii
Hi Kids – It’s Me! Zeppiiiiiii! I just got this great idea for you to help keep things out of landfills and at the same time help out other kids who have less than you do! How about this:
As you grow, you know you have clothes that will never fit again. That can be a great thing, but what do you do with those clothes? You certainly do not want to throw them out, that’s wasteful and very bad for the planet.
It’s always great to get new clothes for the new school year, how about donating your clothes that are in great shape to organizations that give clothes to those in need. There are many kids who cannot afford new clothes but would absolutely love your generosity!
Take cans and bottles to a recycling center and get some cash! Also many trash services will pick them up if you place them in your recyclable trash container.
You and your friends can make a big difference in what goes into landfills and what can go to better uses. Get together with your friends and classmates to come up with some great ways to prevent unnecessary landfills that will only poison the ground we walk on and the grass our animal friends rely on for food!
Wow! This is sooo much fun to learn all this great stuff to become Eco-friendly!! You kids are the best! I will be back with even more wonderful things you can do for our great world!!
Zeppi – Zepp, Zeppiiiiii
Alesdor & Lilit came up with this great way to keep junk out of landfills and keep our Earth healthy and happy for everyone!
I bet many of you do not realize that when you are done with a pencil, a piece of paper or non-fillable pens – they end up in a landfill that some day will be covered up and left underground to no good outcome for our wonderful planet.
There are many things you can do to think green and stop the waste. Before buying new stuff, look for recycled goods such as your arts and crafts, refillable pens and refillable pencils. Recycled items are just a good as new items because they are put together by manufacturers who know what they are doing and you cannot tell the difference – but our planet and our wildlife sure know the difference!
Helping Your Feathered Friends Have Earth Friendly:
Start a great school project by building bird seed feeders out of recycled milk cartons!
Get a used milk carton from your parents and wash it out thoroughly. Once dry have your parents staple the carton closed like it was before it was ever opened. Poke a hole with a pencil or a paper punch through the top of the carton to run the string through for hanging. Poke holes in the side or cut a large one in the front and then fill with bird seed. Make sure the bird seed stops just short of the hole(s). Then find a great place to hang it and let your bird friends enjoy!
I’m off again, but I hope all these great ideas are as exciting to you as they are to me!
Your Ever Friend – Zeppiiiiii
Hi Boys & Girls!
I just know you and your friends will really enjoy getting to school in a more Eco-friendly way. How about starting a Walking School Bus! Get everyone together, so no one is ever walking alone, get an adult to lead all of you to school! As long as it’s a safe way to walk, it will also give you some great exercise! Always check with your parents to come up with a plan and involve your teachers. Again, never walk in a dangerous area or walk alone!
Riding a bike or boarding are other great ideas but always make sure it’s OK with your parents to be sure you will be safe and never travel alone – go in a group!
If you live in colder climates, like I do!, This might only be good for a short time before it gets too cold. If parents and teachers help out, enjoy it while you can!
This is just another great way to help out our wonderful planet by cutting back on those smelling fumes from buses! Let adults decide if this can be done. If your school is too far away, you and your friends should think up some other wonderful things you can do instead.
As your friend Zeppiiiiiii – I will be back really soon to give you more great, great planet saver ideas!
See You Soon! Yipppppeeeee!
