Trees are wonderful!

Hey Kids!

I hope I wasn’t gone too long! I needed to care for my newly planted tree and I just know he is going to be sooo beautiful one day!

So, let’s see where we left off!

kids.trees

Trees are ever so silent, live very, very long lives and provide our Earth with the best air, the best oxygen, the best shade and the most beautiful views ever!

Another wonderful thing about a tree – in one year your average tree will remove over one ton of carbon dioxide from the air!! Trees truly are our friends – yipppppeeeee!

Will your tree bear fruit or flowers? If so, you will have to learn how much water your new tree will need on a daily and weekly basis along with special care that might be needed in order to help their fruits or flowers grow.

Now speaking of clean air, do you know you and your family could have the very best air in the world over the course of one year? Your tree will provide you with all the oxygen you could possibly want over the entire year!

Trees help keep our earth cooler, provides all living things with the very best clean air. Trees are our special, silent guardians – take care of them and they will care for you forever!

You have learned so many great ways to help protect our planet, protect our animals and our wonderful plants! Share your new found knowledge with your classmates, your teachers and others. You will show them they too can make a big difference and feel really good about themselves!

Zeppiiiii is already very, very proud of you! See You Soon!

Tree Planting

Hey Kids! We planted our very first tree and it was soooo exciting and I can’t wait to see it grow! I want to give you some ideas so you and your friends can also grow a tree!

tree-planting-kids

Get with your friends and plant a tree. Have your parents bring you to the local nursery and pick out a tree that will do really well by your house. Trees have been planted for many reasons from celebrating a birthday to remembering something really special. Trees grow quickly and before you know it, they are really big! Think of it, plant a young sapling and one day when you are an adult – come back and see a wonderful, full grown tree where once was a small sapling!

When you go to the local nursery, let the specialists guide you to the right tree for your ground conditions, your available space and the proper sunlight. You don’t want to plant a tree that will block the sun from your Mom’s flower garden! Trees grow very quickly and their roots will spread out to meet the size of the tree. You do not want a tree whose roots will end up growing under the foundation of your house – Yikes!! So listen to those who know!

Trees are so wonderful, most people do not understand how very valuable they are for keeping us all safe and healthy! I have to run for right now, but when I come back – I’m gonna tell you even more about trees!

Hugs From Your Friend Zeppiiii

Save water & food

Hi Kids!

It’s so good to see you again! Today, we are going to look at things that no one ever thinks about, but could be causing bad health for our environment, our animal friends and plants.

I bet there have been times, you are trying to sleep but guess what! A faucet in the kitchen or in the bathroom is just dripping, dripping and dripping! Teeeheeeee! You try turning it off but nope!

If a faucet in your home is dripping, ask your parents to replace the washer.   For each drop that falls every second, it’s causing over 2,700 gallons of wasted water! Yikes! That’s 10,220 liters that can be saved with a new washer!

outdoor-faucet

Ever bitten off more than you can chew? I know I have….

Even though you are hungry, do not take more food on your plate than you really can eat. Whether it’s in your school lunch room or once you get home, it’s a waste of food. There really are people in this world that do not have enough food to eat. Wasted food that ends up in landfills could feed over 49 million hungry people each year in the United States alone.

Alesdor, Lilit and I are going to go to our local nursery and plant a tree! I am sooo excited! When I come back, I’m going to give you some great ideas if you want to plant a tree too!

See You Soon – Zeppiiiiii

My little spider friends

Hi Everybody!

happy-spider

Oh I am sooo excited that you have come back! Do you know there are soooo many little critters living with us, on this Earth, that are very, very helpful in keeping everything safe? Unfortunately, some kids find my little friends scary! That’s because they kind’a look different! My little spider friends are wonderful helpers, so don’t kill them!

Did you know that spiders eat pesky insects and control pests that will kill plants and your Mom’s favorite flowers? There are so many wonderful spiders all over the world that play a very important part of keeping our Earth safe and healthy. The next time you think you are afraid of a spider, think about what he is providing this planet – you might learn not to be so afraid of him!

I know many nice spiders and they are here to help us all out in making sure our plants have a really great place to live and are being protected!

When we get together next time, let’s look at some things inside your home that could run better, keeping our Earth safe and our bad eating habits and what that means!

See You Soon – Hugs From Zeppiiiiii

Clean your local park

Boy! I have been so busy, busy gathering up great ideas for you and your friends to help make this Earth a better place for everyone!

How about you and your friends getting together and volunteering to help clean up your local park! Get with your teachers to see if public places could use your help, plan a field trip to go and help pickup and dispose trash. It will be a lot of fun and teach you why littering is not a good thing to do!

clean-park

Do your part by never, ever throwing trash on the ground, it’s so bad for the planet! If you see a friend throw a wrapper on the ground, bring it to their attention and let them know the nearby trash can is where that should go.

When you or your friends throw stuff on the ground, they may land in a storm drain! Storm drains take water to the nearest river or stream that eventually flows into the ocean. If you are tossing items onto the ground, these items are littering the rivers, streams and even the ocean. Our friends who live in the rivers or in the ocean are being harmed! It’s bad for the environment, fish become sick because of these things polluting the water and then our bird friends become sick because they ate a sick fish! How Sad Is That? Protect our oceans and our wildlife – they need you!

Fun with leaves

Hello Again My Friends!

Lilit & I were reminded of something that sooo many of us take for granted & never think about, but boy we should! I am talking about our friends the trees! Yep! Trees Are Our Giant Friends! They are always watching out for us! So what can we do to watch out for them?

girls-leaves-bagging

Boy, I just love trees and I bet You Do Too! These silent giants give us fresh oxygen and air to breathe. They give us shade in the heat of summer and allows the sun to warm our homes in the winter months. When trees drop their leaves, it’s always just before the coldest months of the year and your home feels so much warmer from the wonderful fall sun! Leaves can be a lot of fun to build a mound for you and your friends to jump into! Get with your parents first, because at some point your Dad is going to have to bag them up to be sent off for recycling. People are no longer allowed to burn leaves because the burning leaves send pollution into the air, so ask first. I’m sure your Dad will work something out for you and your friends to have some fun and still have time to bag them up when it’s time!

I have to go and think up so more terrific things you and I can do to help our planet, our animal friends and our wonderful, beautiful trees!

See You Soon Your Friend Zeppiiiii

Correct Battery disposal

Ooooh! It Is Soooo Good To See All You Kids Again!

I have been learning soooo many wonderful ways to help our planet become healthier and a better place for beautiful plants and wonderful animals to share along with you. Here are more wonderful ways to recycle and keep bad stuff out of landfills and poisoning the land.

So, let’s get started – This is going to be sooo aw-sum!

battery-recycle

Batteries:

Batteries are used in so many of our devices from computers to cars to cell phones! They must all be disposed of at some time unless you use rechargeable batteries. Did you know you would have to use literally hundreds of one-use batteries to equal the energy from a rechargeable battery? Yepper! If you or your parents have batteries that can only be used once, learn how to properly dispose of these items. These batteries ending up in landfills can be very harmful to the planet. That is why there are state rules and regulations for depositing these kind of items. Ask your parents to teach you how these batteries are given to certain drop off stations for proper disposal.

Books are wonderful and we all want to read great stories that everyone else is enjoying. Instead of running out and buying a new book, why not borrow the book from a friend and do the same back. Let your friends read the book you so enjoyed! I’m sure they will appreciate it and so will our Earth!

Gotta Run! But come back real soon, cause I’ve got a great new idea you are just going to love – Yep!

Your Best Buddy Zeppiiiiii

Donate Clothes & Reduce trash

Hi Kids – It’s Me! Zeppiiiiiii! I just got this great idea for you to help keep things out of landfills and at the same time help out other kids who have less than you do! How about this:

As you grow, you know you have clothes that will never fit again. That can be a great thing, but what do you do with those clothes? You certainly do not want to throw them out, that’s wasteful and very bad for the planet.

donate-clothes

It’s always great to get new clothes for the new school year, how about donating your clothes that are in great shape to organizations that give clothes to those in need. There are many kids who cannot afford new clothes but would absolutely love your generosity!

Reduce Trash:

Take cans and bottles to a recycling center and get some cash! Also many trash services will pick them up if you place them in your recyclable trash container.

kids-books

You and your friends can make a big difference in what goes into landfills and what can go to better uses. Get together with your friends and classmates to come up with some great ways to prevent unnecessary landfills that will only poison the ground we walk on and the grass our animal friends rely on for food!

Wow! This is sooo much fun to learn all this great stuff to become Eco-friendly!! You kids are the best! I will be back with even more wonderful things you can do for our great world!!

Earth Friendly

Hi Kids!

recycled-pencils-kids-booksAlesdor & Lilit came up with this great way to keep junk out of landfills and keep our Earth healthy and happy for everyone!

I bet many of you do not realize that when you are done with a pencil, a piece of paper or non-fillable pens – they end up in a landfill that some day will be covered up and left underground to no good outcome for our wonderful planet.

There are many things you can do to think green and stop the waste. Before buying new stuff, look for recycled goods such as your arts and crafts, refillable pens and refillable pencils. Recycled items are just a good as new items because they are put together by manufacturers who know what they are doing and you cannot tell the difference – but our planet and our wildlife sure know the difference!

Helping Your Feathered Friends Have Earth Friendly:

Start a great school project by building bird seed feeders out of recycled milk cartons!

Get a used milk carton from your parents and wash it out thoroughly. Once dry have your parents staple the carton closed like it was before it was ever opened. Poke a hole with a pencil or a paper punch through the top of the carton to run the string through for hanging. Poke holes in the side or cut a large one in the front and then fill with bird seed. Make sure the bird seed stops just short of the hole(s). Then find a great place to hang it and let your bird friends enjoy!

I’m off again, but I hope all these great ideas are as exciting to you as they are to me!

Help out our wonderful planet

school-kidsHi Boys & Girls!

I just know you and your friends will really enjoy getting to school in a more Eco-friendly way. How about starting a Walking School Bus! Get everyone together, so no one is ever walking alone, get an adult to lead all of you to school! As long as it’s a safe way to walk, it will also give you some great exercise! Always check with your parents to come up with a plan and involve your teachers. Again, never walk in a dangerous area or walk alone!

Riding a bike or boarding are other great ideas but always make sure it’s OK with your parents to be sure you will be safe and never travel alone – go in a group!

If you live in colder climates, like I do!, This might only be good for a short time before it gets too cold. If parents and teachers help out, enjoy it while you can!

This is just another great way to help out our wonderful planet by cutting back on those smelling fumes from buses! Let adults decide if this can be done. If your school is too far away, you and your friends should think up some other wonderful things you can do instead.

As your friend Zeppiiiiiii – I will be back really soon to give you more great, great planet saver ideas!

See You Soon! Yipppppeeeee!

Zeppi – Zepp, zeppiiiiii is back!

penguinHi Kids!

Zeppi – Zepp, zeppiiiiii I’m back again to share some more great things we can all do to help out our planet and all of us who live here!

Boy! I hope you had as wonderful a summer cause I sure did! I have been doing all sorts of fun things with my friends Alesdor – Alesdoor and my girl squirrel friend Lilit! We learned some great ways to help our planet get really, really healthy and happy along with all our animal and plant friends.

Now that you are back in school and learning many great things, how about learning some things you can do to help us all live in a greener healthier place?

Trash Free Lunches:

Did you know that you can have your mom or dad pack a lunch box that has nothing to throw out? Yep!

Let’s see what your lunch box has right now:

Sandwiches or treats in plastic bags

Fruits and veggies in plastic bags

Chips, cookies, cheese, fruit bars and many other things that are sealed in their own packaging.

Milk cartons or water bottles

Plastic spoons and forks, along with paper napkins

I bet you are thinking isn’t that what lunch boxes should have in them? That’s what most have in them, but did you know with a few changes, you will not be left with trash to throw out and end up in a landfill!

Have all your food, such as sandwiches, fruits, veggies and treats placed in reusable lunch containers. They can be so easy to wash and will be ready for another meal and nothing is going into a landfill – yipppppeeeee!

I have to run for now, but I will be back really soon with more wonderful ways to become planet friendly –

Endangered species

endangered_speciesHey Kids! Zeppi Here!

I hope you have enjoyed a fun and happy day! You and your friends are probably having soooo much fun just like I do with my best friends Alesdor – Alesdooor, his parents and Lilit! I have been to soooo many wonderful places and met soooo many wonderful animals and discovered soooo many beautiful plants! Now I am back, as I promised, to show you what you can do to protect wildlife – this is going to be sooo aw-sum!

When you put yourself in that wonderful chain, as a link, you are effecting sea otters, bears, dolphins, tigers, wolves and even penguins like me! Everything you do can effect all of us and all of wildlife, so what can you kids do to help out our world!

Learn as much as you can about endangered and threatened species. Talk to your teachers and ask them to talk about these species. Your teachers and parents can help you find out all sorts of things about plants and animals that are in great need of special protection, including in your very own area! Ask your teacher to allow you to share what you have learned with your classmates!

If you are allowed in your neighborhood, set up food and shelter for wildlife, be sure to find out if you can do that.

How about planting a tree, a bush that has seeds, fruits or berries for our bird friends. Place or hang a birdhouse, they will be wonderful to watch and they will surely enjoy those little snacks of berries, fruits and seeds – yummmieeee!

Never, ever buy or keep wild animals! This is not good for them, they need to be with their own species. They want to be with their family and friends. This includes turtles, frogs, exotic birds and oh yes – Penguins – heiiiii!
I will be back with ever so much more fun stuff to share with you! In the mean time, you and your friends think up some things you might think you can do to help all the plants and animals live happy lives!!

Protect plants and animals :)

kids-booksZeppi Here! I am back just as I promised and today we are going to discover some stuff you guys can do to help protect all of us and keep our wonderful world – Wonderful!!

There are somethings you kids can do to help prevent the extinction of plants and animals! When you are playing with your friends, walking around and have a candy wrapper in your hand, don’t throw it on the ground. Put it in a trash can! Littering harms our world and all of us who live here. As much as it might seem like a good thing to do, please do not feed wild animals. What you might think would be good food for them, probably is not. Feeding wild animals will encourage them to come out of their habitats to look for other treats and this could harm them and could even harm you!

There are many rules that are written down for everyone to follow, they are called laws. One of the most important laws that is in place to protect wild life is called The Endangered Species Act. This law is in place to stop different species from becoming extinct by protecting their habitats they need to survive.

The Endangered Species Act also protects endangered plants and animals that will become extinct if people don’t do something real soon! These animals and plants are call “threatened species”. There are soooo many species that are in deep trouble and need special protection right away!

Well Kids – we are going to stop here for right now! Think about your world around you and how you might be able to make a difference. I will be back real soon to talk about:

What You Can Do To Protect Wildlife!

That’s going to be a lot of fun!

This wonderful planet that we call Earth

kids-story-booksHi Kids! It’s Zeppi – Zepp, zeppiiiiii again! Boy I sure hope you are enjoying all these wonderful things about our world as much as I am! My girl squirrel friend Lilit wants Alesdor to help us build a bird house for our little friends. But, you know, squirrels are tricky! They loooove to climb bird houses and eat those little snacks – heiiiii!

Now let’s pickup where we left off on learning about this wonderful planet that we call Earth!

When animals and plants habitats are destroyed by not making good choices or even by natural things, such as floods or earthquakes, over time these animals and plants will become extinct – nooooo! Extinct means a species will one day just disappear and never be seen again! When animals are losing their habitats and homes, the number of them start to become less. When this happens, these wonderful creatures are put on a list that is called an Endangered List. Our human friends put these lists together so they can protect these animals from becoming Extinct!

Hey Kids – imagine coming home from school one day and your house is no longer there! What would you do if some of your friends just disappeared -never to be seen again! When plant or animal habitats are damaged, there is no place for them to go! This is why it is so important for people to protect all these special habitats.

When people dirty the air and water that we all drink and breath, hunt animals too much or try to put other species in places where they don’t belong; will lead to these animals becoming endangered. If it goes on and no one does anything about it, these species will, in time, become extinct and we can’t do anything for them – we can’t bring them back!
Here is some really good News! When I come back I’m gonna tell you what all you kids can do to help keep our world healthy and clean! Won’t that be great? It’s gonna be fun too!

New friends

peace_on_earthHi Kids! I have been speaking with some new friends that are just as excited as you and I are about us all being so much a part of each other! Turtles, Rabbits, Eagles and so many, many more!

Even though all living things might look completely different and live in different places, we all need a lot of the same things like food, water, air, shelter and the sun. Plants and animals also depend on each other just like you depend on your parents, your brothers, sisters, your friends and your teachers! We are all a part of something like a family or a school. This is a chain that contains many links and we are all connected by these links that form our wonderful chain! We must all work together in order to survive in this world.

So remember, all of us – animals and plants – will keep our chain and earth healthy and strong. When one link is destroyed or broken it hurts the entire chain. When people forget they are a part of this wonderful chain, other species are harmed and some have been lost forever.

I just know all you kids want to make our world a wonderful, happy place for everyone! So join with me and plant some flowers or help your parents put up a bird house so our feathered friends can rest and enjoy a few seed snacks! Working together will make our world a very special place for all of us to live together!
I am taking off to learn ever so much more stuff to share with you!

More fun stuff

story-books-kidsHi Kids! Yipppppeeeee! I just found more fun stuff about all the animals, plants and people that all live together and I am really excited to let you know!

Did you know that if you and your parents recycle bottles and cans, use water, gas and other resources, responsibly, you can make a big difference in protecting the rest of us? Your parents need to pick good people to lead in the protection of wildlife and the places they live in.
Our world is loaded with great things such as forests, deserts, oceans and even your own backyard has great stuff! The places where animals and plants live are called habitats. If these habitats are healthy and safe, then all animals and plants will have everything they need to be happy and survive.
Scientists take all animals and plants and put them into different groups. These groups are called species. For instance Lions and Tigers are called Felines or cats and your pet kitty is a cat! Wolves and Coyotes are in the Canine family or dog family and your dog is also in the Canine family! Humans are also a species of animals because people are also a link in the chain of living creatures all over the world.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that we are all really, really connected by our wonderful world! It just tickles me to feel so much a part of you!! Weeeeeeeee!

Be Back Soon!

Hey kids, I am back!

story-books-for-kidsHey kids, I am back! Zepp-zepp-zeppiiii!
I did not forget you but I have been travelling with Charlotte and starting today I will send you more regular posts.

I happen to be a penguin! I know you probably already know that – heiiiii! I am here to talk about our wonderful planet and all the great things that live here.

Animals, people and even plants all depend on each other so we can all survive. We all need food, air so we can breath, water to keep us from being thirsty and of course a safe place to live. Since I fell off that awful truck I live with my best friend Alesdor – Alesdooor and my girl squirrel friend Lilit – so I am ow-keiiii!

All animals and plants will give us all these things we need. Did you know that trees are our best friends? They give us clean air by taking in the bad air and giving back good air. I love birds and birds like to eat insects that try to damage all sorts of plants and crops – they also carry nasty diseases. Those earth worms that we see crawling around the ground help to make our soil rich so we can grow crops and pretty flowers!

kids-booksThe Good News! No one can keep our world cleaner and healthier than people and you are people! It really is important that people do not ruin the places where animals and plants live. Building houses and even roads can take away their homes. People need to be very careful and make good choices that can make a difference in the safety and well-being of other creatures and all our wonderful plants.

Wow! This is sooo much fun to learn all this great stuff!! You kids are the best! I will be back with even more wonderful things for you to learn about our great world!!

The Buzz

“An entertaining fantasy with a quirky, inventive storyline that shows how things invariably turn out badly for bullies.” Kirkus Reviews

“The book is going to be devoured by readers of any type, whether they’re looking for some fun fiction, a comical read, or a page-turner.” 5 Star Review, San Francisco Book Review

“Fynn’s book reminded me a bit of Harry Potter, but he adds his own cast of characters and a boy (Iggy), fun dialogue, and an amazing story that you can’t help but root for. If you are looking for a great book to get your kids hooked on, then I recommend the Prince Iggy series.” 5 Star Review, The Pen and Muse Book Reviews, Amazon

“Has the flavor of a Dickens and a Harry Potter story while remaining wholly original. It just shares those characteristics that make it such an enjoyable read. This book should be on every child’s must read list and if I’m to be perfectly honest it should be on every adults list too. It has enough subtle adult humor well within its boundaries to make it an entertaining read for the parents too. It certainly has a modern message. It shows just how heartbreaking bullying can be by children as well as adults. It’s a story about losing yourself and finding yourself. It shows being a bully doesn’t pay off but believing in yourself does.” 5 Star Review, April S., Amazon

The Princess Fables by Marc Clark

About the Book

Title: The Princess Fables | Author: Marc Clark | Illustrator: Eric Hosford | Publication Date: December 5, 2013 | Publisher: Seven C’s Productions | Pages: 115 | Recommended Ages: 3+

Summary: The Origins of THE PRINCESS FABLES: When the author’s daughter was just beginning the first grade, she was not happy about school. So when he would wake her each morning, whatever she would say to get out of going became the subject for a PRINCESS FABLE. If she’d say, “I don’t want to,” he’d make up a tale about The Princess Who Always Said, “I Don’t Wanna”. If she pulled the covers over her head, he’d tell her the story of The Princess Who Hid Under The Covers. By the end of each Fable he’d have her dressed and ready for school, with her eyes wide open and full of hope…

THE PRINCESS FABLES are eleven inspirational stories for young girls who may still dream of being a Princess. Each Princess embarks on an adventure of self discovery and along the way, learns about the importance of trust, devotion, courage and the power of love. These classic tales transport little girls to a time and place where they are the heroines and can create their own happy endings.

Every delicate pen and ink illustration reflects the classic fairy tale drawings of the late 19th century.

Award: The Princess Fables was just awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival.

The Buzz

“I bought this book to read with my younger brother and we both loved it. I always try to encourage him to keep up with his reading but he’s usually not that big of a fan of books most of the time. To my surprise, he quickly became immersed into the story and I could tell that he was having just as much fun as I was reading it together. The story keeps up at a smooth and fast pace, which is of course very important in children’s books, and it’s adventurous and written really well. To say that I am satisfied with ‘Skycastle, the Demon, and Me’ would be an understatement, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more releases by the author” ~ 5 Star Review, Jane L., Amazon

“The characters are well created and the story is exceptionally good. My great granddaughter just started reading it this morning and she is already pretty engrossed in the story. Great book. I definitely recommend.” ~ 5 Star Review, Beverly C., Amazon

“Very well written story. Witty and charming for both myself and my son who is in 3rd grade. A great creative adventure about a demon and a boy. Looking forward to more in this series. I would highly recommend this book for kids around the 3rd grade. It’s action packed and holds my sons interest. Filled with the stuff he loves. Thanks!” ~ 5 Star Review, M. Harbin, Amazon

D. Robert PeaseD. Robert Pease has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. From building in the sandbox behind his house, to drawing fantastical worlds with paper and pencil, there has hardly been a time he hasn’t been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. The Buzz

Book 1: “Well-written, fast-paced, and entirely appropriate for its target audience (middle grade fantasy), this short but succinct novel (novella? It was maybe a little between a novella and a novel) tells a delightful tale of a naive princess who learns the real meaning of freedom. Kirsten gives her characters a sufficient amount of depth to make them genuinely likeable, and she leaves room for much, much more to come.” ~ 5 Star Review, Ally, Amazon

Book 1: “An inspiring thought provoking, and wonderfully written fairy tale by an author who transports us to a time in our imagination where everything is magical and possibilities are real.” ~ 5 Star Review, kathyls, Amazon

Book 2: “Fairy tales are filled with knights and princesses and castles and a special magical feel that takes the reader far, far, away into another world, another place, another time. The Battle for Princess Madeline fits the bill to a tee! Author Kirstin Pulioff has created a special feel to the tale of Princess Madeline with her own special talent for using words to paint pictures in our minds.” ~ 5 Star Review, Dii, Amazon

Book 2: “The story is well developed and easy to follow. The vivid scenes will transport young readers into the magical world of fairy tales with thrilling characters that have come to life. Another splendid read for young readers! I can hardly wait for a new book, Princess Madeline and the Dragon. ” ~ 5 Star Review, Mrs. D., Amazon

Book 3: “The story is engaging on many levels, as is Pulioff’s writing, but on this occasion I was mostly drawn into the action and the mystery as how to prevent the worst from happening. This is great entertainment and should do well across a wider age range.” ~ 5 Star Review,ChristophFischerBooks, Amazon

Book 3: “Kirstin Pulioff has saved the best for last. ‘Princess Madeline and the Dragon’ is the final instalment in the ‘Princess Madeline Trilogy’. I thought the first two books were finely wrought stories, but this novel surpasses its predecessors. Prophesies, family tragedies, magic and – of course – dragons, combine to produce a tale that is an instant classic. Written with a great deal of charm, ‘Princess Madeline and the Dragon’ will not disappoint Ms Pulioff’s young fans. I look forward to seeing where next her imagination will take this natural storyteller. ” ~ 5 Star Review, Diogenes, Amazon

Book Trailer

The Early Buzz

“The Adventures of Lovable Lobo: Lobo’s Howliday is a children’s book written by C.L. Murphy. Lobo and his friend Roxy, the raven, are surprised when an owl comes to see Lobo with a special delivery. Within the bag is Arty, an Arctic mouse who has an urgent request from Santa. Santa needs Lobo’s help this year, and the three of them set off for the North Pole. Along the way, they meet an Arctic fox, who lets them stay the night in his den and a polar bear who transports them across icy water. An Arctic wolf accompanies them for the rest of the journey to Santa’s Village, where an Arctic hare is waiting for them. Santa has updated his method of delivering gifts on Christmas, but he’s got a problem that Lobo can help him with.

I was spellbound reading The Adventures of Lovable Lobo: Lobo’s Howliday. C.L. Murphy’s artwork is simply amazing. Each page is filled with images you can get lost in: lush green forests, sparkling night skies, snowy expanses, and the animals have personality and incredible appeal. If you’re lacking in Christmas spirit this year, no matter what your age, spending some time with Lobo, Roxy, and Arty will soon change your attitude. Lobo’s Howliday is also a great way to introduce a child to the Northern Lights, the Arctic, and the amazing animals that live there (see if you can find the Orca!). I’ve already recommended The Adventures of Lovable Lobo: Lobo’s Howliday to friends who have children or grandchildren. It’s a very special book. ” ~ 5 Star Review, Jack Magnus, Readers Favorite

She’s had the pleasure of working as an artist in residence, creating cartoons and painting murals with the children at local elementary schools. She adores the wonder and curiosity of young children. For years, she filed picture book ideas away, until the reality of the empty nest syndrome sunk in and she decided to bring her favorite one to fruition.

She based the character, Lovable Lobo, on something very dear to her heart, a real wolf that she’s raised for the last 13 years. She’s felt the need to protect him his entire life, primarily due to the preconceived notions that wolves are to be feared.

She lives amongst the wildlife in an enchanted forest in the beautiful Oregon wilderness. She has always appreciated nature and animals have always played a major role in her life. She was that little girl who brought home the strays asking “Can we please keep it?” At an early age she realized her connection with animals by training a wild bluejay to appear on command to take food from her hand.

Check out her book series and discover that you, too, will find Lobo lovable.

The Buzz

“Through the storytelling of Beverly Stowe McClure and the book illustrations of Bridget McKenna, the reader is drawn to feel the pain of poverty and choices that must be made due to economic circumstance. We are drawn into Jackie’s world by her giving spirit and root for her every word of the way. And when all is said and done … We, too, believe in the miracle of a Tumbleweed Christmas. Timely for the season and its reason, but also gives us reason to keep the Spirit of Christmas alive year ’round.” ~ 5 Star Review, Ruth C., Amazon

“I can’t think of a sweeter tale of the season than Tumbleweed Christmas.” ~ 5 Star Review, Cheryl M., Amazon

“This is a delightful 24 page book which shows the reader about selflessness. Many parent’s give up much to make things work when they don’t have a lot of money, and being creative is certainly a key in such situations. Jackie gave up what was dear to her the most to be able to give gifts to her family so they had something to open on Christmas day. In many ways, gift giving has gone out of control. The most expensive items are not necessarily the best. Sometimes it’s the handmade items or drawings that come from the heart that are truly memorable. A gift from the heart is what truly matters most, and it doesn’t have to be much. Children and parent’s alike will enjoy this story because it touches upon one of the best gifts in the world that we can give–LOVE!” ~ 5 Star Review, Children’s Book Reviewer, Amazon

Beverly Stowe McClure

Beverly Stowe McClure is a former teacher turned writer. When she was a kid, writing was the last thing on her mind. She loved music and played clarinet in the junior high and high school bands. She also was a majorette. She still plays the piano to relax. Her cats don’t appreciate good music, however, and run and hide when she tickles the ivories.
She lives in the country with Patches and Tiger (the cats), along with a variety of wild critters that stop by for a handout. Next to her sons, grandchildren, and great-grands, writing is her passion and joy. She also enjoys researching her family roots and snapping pictures of clouds, flowers, deer and birds, especially the roadrunner that visits on occasion and the hummingbirds that she feeds.

Publication Date: October 19, 2013

Publisher: Pip & Grey

Number of pages: 242

For over a thousand years dragons have existed in secret . . .

Peter Clark can build a robot from scratch and pick a lock in two minutes or less. But he can’t figure out why his mother left or why his grandma refuses to talk about her. When Uncle Dominick shows up on Peter’s twelfth birthday with a letter that hints at answers and an incredible story about dragons, Peter follows him, determined to find out the truth about his mother’s disappearance.

What he finds is a reality far different from what he ever could have imagined – where dragons live in hiding, hunted by poachers for their magical parts, and a small group of men and women work tirelessly to protect them. These are the Dragon Defenders. Peter’s uncle is one. So was his mother. Now it’s Peter’s turn.

The Buzz

“We read an advance copy of this book on kindle earlier this year and our 5th grade son read it twice and is anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. Great adventure, really kept our interest reading it together at night. This was one of the kids books I most enjoyed reading myself as well. The characters and the plot are well developed, and appealing to a wide range of kids (both genders). The writing is sophisticated but easy to understand, not ‘dumbed down’ like many kids books. The subject of dragons was so well crafted that it’s easy believe that dragons just might exist, after all.” ~ 5 Star Review, Leigh A., Amazon

“Reminiscent of the Fablehaven series (with just the right touch of Harry P.) this middle grade book is both an adventure and a pleasure…Fast-paced and full of wonder, this book takes middle grade readers on a vivid journey from the southwestern U.S. to Mexico; where jungles, ancient ruins and local folklore add to the enchantment that Peter finds when he discovers that dragons are in fact, real. As a former elementary school teacher, my strong feeling is that kids will eat this book whole, and then turn to searching for dragon eggs in their own backyards!” ~ 5 Star Review, Grace W., Amazon

“Dragon Defender was an absorbing action packed read! The author pulls you in from the first page and I’m not sorry to say I read it all in the first day. I’m 33 but still! This is a fun book for a chapter a night with your 5 year old (my son is loving it so far) or for yourself. The characters are well developed so you feel like you’re really there, and the dragon is so believable. I’d venture so far as to say I had to remind myself that dragons don’t really exist…. or do they?” ~ 5 Star Review, MGC, Amazon
